Why Differentiated Research?

As former managers in the hedge fund industry, we began noticing a shift in financial research toward including more alternatives: market data, technology, systems, and niche research.

Problem is, most asset managers don’t have the time to discover, evaluate, and engage with research providers who will ultimately impact their investment thesis.

In addition, relationships in this space can be complicated. We realized these connections were best substantiated once the asset manager was certain they had an interest in the product offered.

Differentiated Research was born to solve both issues of time and relationship-management.

Our Leadership

Differentiated Research’s Founder and CEO is Tai Docarmo.  Throughout her career, she has held roles of increasing responsibility in several functional areas of Finance. She brings over 10 years of experience to the table.

Prior to becoming CEO, she pioneered the Broker Relations initiative at Balyasny Asset Management where her focus on implementation, goal setting, and achievement of strategic plans supported the growth of the organization.

Tai has always exhibited the spirit of an entrepreneur.  She is engaging and observant, building on these two traits to consistently innovate.  Always seeking equitable arrangements for both sides, she has enriched the asset manager experience with the street by creating advanced systems to foster greater collaboration, transparency, and reporting.

Because of her fair and collegiate mentality, she has maintained deep, meaningful relationships with the street and industry peers.

In continuing to satisfy the goal of partnership, Differentiated Research was established to provide mutual benefit to the asset manager and research provider.

The company emphasizes a collaborative culture focused on learning, leading, teaching and performing to inspire further advancements while setting new standards in sourcing research.

Tai earned her Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from the State University of New York – Bernard Baruch College and has been on several boards across the Fine Arts and Networking spaces.  She is currently a board member of Ellevate Network.
